Reading and reciting the Quran correctly is a vital part of Muslim children’s daily lives; however, it is sometimes a challenge for many young learners. There are many words, sentences, and pronunciations in Quranic Arabic that differ substantially from the words and sentences they are already familiar with. Quran reading can also provide new insights into the culture of Arabic-speaking countries and the way of life of those living in them. The sooner your kids start learning the Quran in the original Arabic, the more benefits they can expect, so begin soon it is better for your kids.

كِتابٌ أَنزَلناهُ إِلَيكَ لِتُخرِجَ النّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُماتِ إِلَى النّورِ

“A Book We have sent down to you so that you may bring forth mankind from the darkness into the light..”. (Surah Ibrahim, 14:1)

Rules and Etiquettes of Reading Quran for Muslim Kids

The following rules and the etiquettes are related to how one (Muslim Kids) should learn and read Qur’an:

  • Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad and Sahaba (R.A)) teaches recitation of Qur’an should be done with sincerity and concentration of heart and mind.
  • Muslim students who learn or memorize the Quran must maintain a practice of constantly revising it so as not to forget it after acquiring knowledge about it. In the Quran, Allah (s.w.t) obliges us to learn and impart knowledge about the Quran to others.
  • Quran is Allah’s Holy Book that’s why one of the most important etiquettes is that one must be in the state of Wudu (ablution) when reciting, and the place should be free of impurities (nijasat).
  • When learning the Quran, we should study with a teacher who has proficiency in teaching Tajweed and Tafsir so we can better understand what it says. Understanding and reflecting on the content of the Qur’an are crucial components of the entire process.
